This Coffee Starter Kit features the Fresh Roast SR-540. A great coffee roaster with a 4.5oz capacity (perfect quantity for a strong 12 cup french press) and fan speed control.  The fan speed control allows you to evenly roast the beans in about 6 minutes, wih a 3 minute cool time.  Short and hot roasts (The Freshroast and i-Roast roasters fall into this category) tend to emphasize acidity and aromatics in a final coffee - whereas prolonged roasts emphasize body and complexity. The Freshroast is the most cost-effective mechanical roaster we offer and is very simple to use!

This kit also includes a stylish Bodum® 8-cup French Press - a truly gourmet method of brewing specialty coffee. Also included is "Home Coffee Roasting: Romance and Revival" - an excellently written, incredibly informative, and authoritative book written by Kenneth Davids (a big name in the coffee industry). Good first roaster

This is a good starter roaster. It's priced right. The capacity is a on the lower side and You will find yourself roasting coffee too often. Consistency is not the best as the same settings may not produce the same results. Top is fragile and breaks easily. It is a messy device that may not separate the coffee from the chaff. I regret not going to a bigger and better roaster

Great roaster ok accessories

This is a good kit to help you get started roasting your own coffee. The sr-540 roaster is the star it has so many adjustments and options that it can be a tad overwhelming at first. The manufacturer or maybe morebeer need to add some details on fan speed and how that affects the temperature of the beans. The book is interesting but no direct information on the sr-540. I feel like the French press is out of place people who have decided to roast their own beans probably have a good quality coffee maker or like me already have a French press.
