Remove chlorine and organic flavor with this 10" carbon block filter. Also filters out sediment to 10 micron. We open the housing after use and store filter dry to eliminate algae from growing inside the housing. Designed to work with our filter housing or any other standard, 10" housing. Good for 8,000 gallons.

After talking to different manufacturers it is our understanding that chloramines can be removed by carbon filtration if the water has a long contact time with the carbon. It is recommended to use at a fill rate of less than 1 gallon per minute in order to remove chloramines.

NOTE: This product should not be used in hot water applications. Cold water only!
This product is designed to filter water only.

These filters are awesome. Would recommend them. Price is perfect. Last much longer than expected. A second wrench would be good to hold the top of the housing when changing filters. Saves a lot of time when cleaning the boiling tank since almost nothing makes it that far past the filters

Great!

The filter works great but the box it came in that could have fit a medium sized dog was a bit over kill :) Would like to see a more Eco-concsious effort put into packaging

Does the job. I got some gnarly heavily treated city water and this filter does a great job of cleaning it up and making tasty brew.

Use it with every batch

I use this filter for every batch of beer I make. The water comes out tasting great and making wonderful beer. Low price makes changing filters more economical than buying jugs.

This is a must have item for brewing.

If you want to use your own tap water - you must have one of these in your setup. Period. Otherwise you will suffer the dreaded bandaid tasting beer...

Works great or chlorine

This filter does a great job removing chlorine from my tap water. I confirmed its results with my swimming pool test kit. Does the job and does it well.

Great Filter at a really good price.

I have been reordering this filter from more beer for the past 5 years. I try to get a new one once a year. I usually brew about 25 batches of beer over the course of the year and have had no complaints this filter does the job. BUY IT!

I have had the same carbon filter for the past year and a half

I have done several batches of beer and mead by filtering out the chlorine in my drinking water. I have noticed a large improvement in the taste of my beer and mead since I have started filtering with this carbon filter. I have had the original for almost 2 years and thought it was about time I had to change it out. I highly recommend using this if you have chlorine in your water.

If your water tastes chlorinated this is your answer

I live in an area where the water receives a good dose of chemicals every few weeks ...this unit solved my problems . It just works!

No Complaints Here

After a couple months I changed out the filter that came with my housing and worked perfect.

No complaints works well

It would be nice if the description stated how many microns it was. In combination with the housing it makes a noticeable difference in the taste of my water.

Is this removable and reusable? Can I switch it out to use the filter housing for filtering beer? And then back in for water on another batch?

MoreCoffee!

Yes you can remove the carbon filter block and reuse it. For example after filtering water I typically remove the filter block from the housing to let it dry out so that it doesn't start to grow algae. Years ago I used to just keep it cool in the fridge but if it is full of water it will start to grow algae.

MoreCoffee!

The filter is removable and the housing can be used with a different cartridge for filtering beer. As others have said it is best to take the filters apart in between uses to let the housing and cartridges to dry out. As always it is very important to thoroughly clean and sanitize your housing and hoses before using it for beer.

The filter is removable

MoreCoffee!

The filter is removable. Because of the time between batches I pull the filter out to let it dry and keep the housing dry.

MoreCoffee!

The carbon filter is removable and definitely reusable. I believe it’s good for about 500 gallons of water. Not sure of the filter type for beer but have seen other brewers use the housing for filtering their beer.

MoreCoffee!

Yes - I use it for water only but remove it and let it dry when not using it. That way I don't worry about algae growing in the filter.

MoreCoffee!

Yup this is just the filter replacement. So if you have the filter housing you can use it to filter beer then clean it out and swap filters and go back to filtering water

MoreCoffee!

I always use the carbon filter for my water and it does a great job. And I have used other filters for filtering beer although I now rely on Irish Moss and Gelatin during cold crash before kegging...no need to filter beer with my system. Hope this helps.
