Use this regulator to dispense Nitrogen, Argon or beer gas mix (70/30 nitrogen/CO2) used for Guinness and some other draft beers. Has a higher high pressure gauge that a CO2 regulator since Nitrogen is filled as a gas instead of a liquid. The starting pressure in a Nitrogen tank will be about 2200 p.s.i. as opposed to 800 p.s.i for a CO2 tank. This is a CGA 580 regulator. 5/16" barb. Manufactured by USA company Taprite.

Nitrogen Regulator for Stouts

This is a good product at a fair price. Not all regulators have either the high pressure gauge or the shut off valve. I consider these essential and would have to add them if buying another brand's regulator.

Taprite nitrogen regulator

I decided to add a white wine tap to my kegerator. Since I didn't want the wine to become carbonated I'm pushing it with nitrogen. This Taprite regulator is exactly what was needed.

The Second One Works Great!!

The first set I received had the high pressure gauge pegged at the pin - unusable. I called and they sent me a new one. One great thing about MoreFlavor is they send a new unit out right away and then worry about the RMA so minimal time is lost without your beer! Anyway it took a followup email to get the RMA authorization slip but the broken one is on the way back and my beer is flowing.

Good Regulator

It's a good regulator no issues. I bought this for cold brew coffee knowing that it can also be used to keg wine. Brave new world (beyond CO2 and Beer).

Great product

Sturdy works as expected. I set the pressure to between 40 and 45 to get the perfect pour. Decided to use this regulator rather than using an adapter for a co2 regulator due to the higher pressure required and to reduce the number of connections that could leak.

Reliable

Can't dispute the reliability but the regulator with the built in adjustment knob is much easier to adjust as you don't need to chase around for a screw driver. It is cheaper and it works just as well as the regulator with the built in adjustment knob.

Does the barb just screw on to a 1/4" flare? I.e. Can I put a 1/4" duotight fitting on instead?

this doesn't come with a washer connecting the regulator to the tank. Do you need to use a separate washer to prevent leaks?

No. It’s a different fitting than a CO2 regulator. The Nitrogen regulator and tank use a flare fitting similar to welding gas or propane. No washer required.

Is this regulator made in the USA ?

Mine says the company is in San Antonio TX (stamped into the unit itself). I can tell you it’s well made. I’ve had mine for 2 years and no problems.

There is no indication on the regulator where it was mad so I don't know. The only label includes TapRite as the name of the company that sells it and they are in San Antonio TX so it might be made in the USA but there is no way to actually tell.

The unit I received is branded Yaetek Nitrogen Regulator. There are no other markings on the body that might indicate the manufacture origins. I tried a bit of internet research on it but didn't find an answer to your question.

Argon and nitrogen cylinders have the same fittings so yes it will work on argon. I actually use it on argon as well and it works really well.

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work with pure argon just as it works with a mixture of nitrogen and argon. Both gases are not reactive and argon has a slightly higher density than nitrogen gas.

Yes the Nitrogen/Argon regulator will work for Argon. Both gasses are listed because they both need a high pressure gauge. This regulator can be used for either Nitrogen or Argon. Not for CO2!

I used this regulator with argon and it works well. I had leaks primarily with the pump and gauges that were eventually solved with a joint cement made for gases. It was my impression that the threads on the equipment were not well machined.

Yes it should work. However I have more success with Nitrogen if it is going toe used on wine. David

Your Argon tank should have a CGA580 valve. If it does this regulator will work.

I do not know. I have only used this with bar gas which is a mix of oxygen and nitrogen. Note that the threads or reversed (left hand) so the gauge is not attached to a carbon dioxide tank. That is the only left handed thread on a tank I have experience with. I had an argon tank on my arc welder and it "seemed" to me it was right handed thread. But that was a long time ago.
