This Duotight fitting with 1/4" male thread is a great option for connecting gas line to regulators and manifolds that have 1/4" FPT. Comes with seated O-ring. Compatible with EVABarrier 8 mm OD Tubing (D1717 & D1718).

Duotight offers superior quality when compared to other push-in fittings. Their double EPDM O-ring design provides a more complete and reliable seal, protecting against leaks even when tubing is bent around tight corners. They are suitable for both beverage and gas applications, and are pressure rated to 100 psi. Tubing can be released by simply pushing in the collet and pulling the line out. No need for clamps or cutting lines!

Features:
  • Insert tubing and firmly push to connect
  • Easily release tubing by pushing in the collet
  • Suitable for both gas & beverage applications
  • Made from food-grade acetal plastic
  • Double O-rings made from highly chemical resistant EPDM
  • Locking teeth made from stainless steel
  • Pressure rated to 150 psi
  • Temperature rated to 212°F (100°C)

Please note: exposure to chlorine will degrade the acetal plastic and stainless steel these fittings are made from. Do not use in contact with bleach or other chlorinated cleaning chemicals.

Worked for my cheap CO2 regulator

I have been wanting to replace my CO2 line for EVABarrier + Duotight for some time but I was stumped how to connect to my cheap no-name CO2 regulator. After spending quite a bit of time looking into it I felt this was my best option and to my surprise it worked great. I unscrewed the barb on the output of the cut-off valve and screwed this in after cleaning and sanitizing it. I did not use teflon tape on the threads mainly because I did not think about it but I did put some keg lube on the o-ring and I was able to tighten until the o-ring made good contact. I tested the connection by both using a foaming agent on the joints and by pressurizing the line turning off the CO2 tank and checking the pressure in the line over night. Neither test indicated a leak so I think the o-ring seems to be sufficient to keep the CO2 in.

Duotight 8mm x 1/4 BSP fitting replaced regulator barb just fine

I added some premium Teflon plumbers tape to the threads as I didn't trust just the O-ring by itself. No leaks.

These things are awesome!

I had an existing system that had a 6 port manifold with regular barb and tubing. I removed all of the barbs and swapped them for these fittings and easily converted my entire system to use Duotight. So glad I did. You don't need to fuss with teflon tape clamps etc. Just twist on tighten with a wrench and you're good to go.

Decent but harder to seal then some others

Little more finicky than the other duotight fittings I used. Also could not get to fit on one of my secondary regulators input due to the rim on the bolt and the angle of the input making a seal impossible. Worked on my primary output well.

No more hose clamps!

Bought 2 sets of these for a couple of keezers and they immediately improved our setups! No more issues with hose clamps...

Great for short 200mm thermowells in bucket lids

I use tandem short thermowells in my brew buckets. great with any length 7mm SS immersion wells. Standard bucket with 2 wells (1 for external monitoring 1 for controller) heating pad and cooling source=commercial level control in a basement cave.

Does this include the nut?

MoreCoffee!

No it's the fitting only

MoreCoffee!

That piece is designed to screw into the regulator. Just wrap it with plumbers tape two or three times and thread into the regulator. Be careful not to over tighten.

MoreCoffee!

There is no "nut". It simply screws into a 1/4-in female NPT fitting like most CO2 distribution manifolds used inside keezers.

I want to install a thermowell with 5/16 OD (8 mm - see picture) to my fermzilla fermenter. Is this the right bulkhead for it?

MoreCoffee!

I tried this and it didn't work. The thermowell is just slightly to big to go through that bulkhead. I git the 23.6 inch thermowell with bulkhead for fermzilla.

MoreCoffee!

This is what I used to install the thermowell in my kegmenter. I did make a slight grove in the thermowell with tubing cutters to keep it from pushing out under pressurized fermentations. It worked fine for me.

MoreCoffee!

Might work as but its not a true Bulkhead fitting which would have the backing plate and seal with nut.....Instead I'd Go here Canuck home brew supply as they have bulkheads and more... Hope this helps with your project. David

The duotight fitting is not a bulkhead. It’s intended to be used with EVA Barrier tuning for liquid or gas lines. You could look at MT385 “ Plastic Bulkhead for Temperature Probe”. That might meet your needs

Instead of trying to mate this BSP fitting to a NPT fitting shouldn't we just get the H853 which is actually NPT? Then a regular DUO106 should screw right on the male flare from the H853? I'm suspicious of trying to use a BSP male in an NPT female.

MoreCoffee!

That’s my same question.

Anyone have luck using these 1/4 male threads with the Elite Series Four Product Secondary Regulator? It appears to have 4 gas out barbs screwed into 1/4 female threads probably NPT not BSP like this is. But the gas into the regulator... the threads are reversed.... turn left to tighten instead of right. Does Duotight make a male 1/4 threaded connect that turns left to tighten? I'd like all the connects to this regulator to be Duotight.... trying to avoid worm clamps and barbs entirely.

MoreCoffee!

These probably will not work for what you're aiming to do. Sometimes you can use BSPP threads on NPT fittings but since these are plastic you run a big risk of breaking the plastic threads and not getting a tight connection.

Any issue using this as a fitting for the 10" water filter? I have chlorinated water and was concerned about degrading the fitting

MoreCoffee!

The fitting won’t have any issue with it for degradation but there is a minor concern with it for design. First the threads are not directly compatible. You’ll need a reducer bushing threaded 1/2” male NPT on the outside and 1/4” female NPT on the inside. Plastic recommended get some good pipe tape like Blue Monster. Use three wraps and be careful not to cross-thread it. The Duotight fitting is BSP not NPT though they are theoretically compatible. As it is a straight thread instead of a taper the rubber sealing gasket at the base provides the seal instead of the interface of the tapered pipe threads. You may need a small amount of pipe tape but try it without first you may get a good seal on your first shot. Good luck I’m really happy with these Duotight fittings and am gradually getting rid of everything else.

1/4" BPS (19 TPI) isn't the same as 1/4" NPT (18 TPI). Will they still create an effective coupling? Will gas leak at something less than the rated 150 psi?

I tried this on my dual Tap-Right regulator and it did NOT work. I removed the 5/16" brass barbed end keeping the brass on/off lever in place on the regulator. The fitting began to thread in but bound up before fully seating and didn't thread in enough to get the O-ring compressed. I tested and they leaked. So against my instincts I tried tightening to compress the O-ring and they stripped. I believe the question states the problem correctly the threads are not the same. I mentioned brass above because I've seen pictures that seem to show a different type of on/off lever body on the tap-rights maybe those have a compatible thread type.

MoreCoffee!

Ive been using a couple of them for a while now they seem to be sealing properly there is an o-ring at the base of the threads that makes the seal. Will say I’m sad I built my entire keezer with conventional hose and connections before finding this system if I was starting from scratch I would use these exclusively I’m tremendously happy with the versatility and cost.

Will this work with the Taprite 1060 Regulator?

MoreCoffee!

The thread on this fitting is 1/4" BSP and NOT the same as the -5 straight thread O-ring fitting used on the outlet of the TapRight shut-off valve. This fitting will screw into the 1/2"-20 female thread on the valve outlet but is too long to compress the o-ring and seal. I tried cutting off some of the male BSP fitting with limited success.
