Here at the shop, many of us plan on using these nitrogen cartridges to push wine out of 5 gallon soda kegs, since the nitrogen does not go into solution. You could also use them in beer situations where you want to push out but not carbonate. Please be aware that the nitrogen will only fill 20% of the space that a 12g CO2 cartridge will because Nitrogen exerts a lower partial pressure than CO2.

Nitrogen has a higher PSI than CO2 so these cartridges will not work with CO2 Mini Regulators.

Will not work with a standard CO2 injector/keg charger

These are smaller in diameter and length than a 16 gram CO2 cartridge so they will not work with a standard CO2 injector / keg charger. Tried inserting a few layers of cardboard to boost it up but it can't hold a tight enough seal so the gas leaks out. I was hoping to use these to dispense a small keg of wine on the go but I can't figure out how to use these. There isn't any information on what kind of dispenser to use or how these can be used. May need to go with a larger threaded canister and get a separate injector.

Are these the same size as N20 cartridges and interchangeable?

The cartridges are the same size as the N2O and CO2 so they fit BUT size of container does not equal volume when it comes to gas. At equivalent pressure N2 provides a little over 1/2 the dispensing volume of N2O and CO2. So you will go through these about twice as fast if you intend to use them the same way. I unfortunately didn't think to do the math until after I bought some.

I can't speak to all cartridges on the market but the NO2 cartridges you get with cream chargers are definitely smaller. However the opening is the same diameter so as long as you don't need to fit the cartridges inside a holster you can still charge it by hand.

No N2O is a mix of Nitrogen and Oxygen and not interchangeable with straight Nitrogen cartridges.
