Hand Coffee Grinder - Antique Tuplak Porcelain

Hand Coffee Grinder - Antique Tuplak Porcelain
COF755

Not only do Lodos Coffee Mills add a touch of the Old World to the kitchen tabletop, they also outperform any electric grinder under $200! Imported directly from Europe by MoreCoffee!, the Antique-style Rondo wooden grinder combines both quality and handmade craftsmanship to create a functional work of art. What's more, Lodos Manual Coffee Mills are exceptionally quiet and can be used any time noise is an issue - early in the morning or in the office at work.

Hand grinding your own coffee also adds an extra level of depth to your coffee enjoyment...you slow down for a moment and grind coffee how it has been done for hundreds of years - a reminder of, and a tribute to, coffee's rich, rich history.

The Lodos Tuplac Porcelain Coffee Mill

The Tuplac Porcelain Coffee Mill features a charming colonial dancing-couple pattern painted on the front and back of the sturdy porcelain body. The dark-stained wood and brass hopper add an air of elegance to the coffee mill...it would be just as appropriate on the mantle as the kitchen counter!

Coffee is added to the grinder by opening the pivoting brass door on the top of the grinder - and the ground coffee is removed by gently unscrewing the top portion of the grinder and pouring the grinds from porcelain vase. The extra large handle-knob doesn't spin in your hand as you grind (it rotates on an axle) making grinding very comfortable.

    The Lodos Story:

One family's perseverance and dedication to quality can be seen in every product they offer in North America.

Established by two brothers in 1923, Lodos's 80-year tradition of making fine quality coffee mills began out of their family home and now is a story worthy of the hand crafted grinders they produce for the world.

Tragedy struck in World War II when the small company all but disappeared. One of the brothers was imprisoned in Dachau, a concentration camp, because of his membership in an Anti-Nazi organization.

He survived the ordeal, returning to his business in 1945, but his brother died just 5 years later. In that time the communists nationalized Lodos, taking all private ownership from the Czech citizens. Again the surviving brother was imprisoned for another 3 years as an enemy of the communist state - capitalism and free trade were prohibited by communism.

After the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, the Czech people, rekindling their long-time history of quality craftsmanship and free trade, rejected communism and on the 17th on January took part in the "Velvet Revolution". Privatization returned to the people, and thus through a new government mandate, Lodos was returned to the grandsons of one of the brothers. Their tradition of high quality coffee grinders continues to this very day.
