Book - Coffee: From Seed to Brew

Book - Coffee: From Seed to Brew
BK207

This book is a great way to get a pretty good understanding of the way coffee is processed from the raw "cherry" to the finished product. The author documents all of the major steps of coffee growing, processing and roasting (both modern and traditional) and each chapter is filled with beautiful and sometimes full page color pictures pertaining to the focus of the chapter. By reading through this book, you will get a pretty good understanding of the steps involved from coffee seed to brew.

This book was written by Transitions of Guatemala, a non-profit organization that helps disabled and poor Guatemalan youths and assists in the rebuilding of communities after disasters. The purchase of this book directly supports their efforts. A brochure on Transitions of Guatemala comes free with each book.

Review from Casey "The Coffee Guy":
I really liked this book. As a matter of fact, I actually had it imported from Guatemala! While on my most recent trip to Antigua, Guatemala, I found it in a bookstore and bought one to check out. When I returned, I contacted Transitions to see selling their book and helping them out a bit. "From Seed to Brew" really does a great job of explaining the various steps involved in the coffee process. The best part about this book is the pictures, though. There are, on average, about 2-3 full color pictures on each page - and this is important when talking about coffee because a lot of the steps are hard to describe with words alone. The majority of coffee books out there don't really explain the steps involved in coffee production, or just give the entire process about 3 sentences - which just doesn't do it justice. This is the book if you have ever been curious about where exactly coffee comes from - and you don't want to read a mountain of text when awesome pictures do the job much better.
