Laos is not a country known for its coffee...actually it's not much known at all! But it does have coffee and several World Bank development aid projects have helped the country's coffee infrastructure to develop - so much so that we are actually seeing some really high quality offers come out of the region!
Laos coffees (this is based on some very limited samples) are unique in that they have a distinct nuttiness (reminiscent of a Brazil) with a nice tangerine / tangelo sweetness that is very nice.
I'm sure we'll start seeing more and more stuff coming from Laos as the origin becomes more popular and gets "put on the map" as a specialty coffee region. Until then, buy a few pounds and appreciate the fact that you're one of the only in the country to know what Laotian coffee tastes like!
We have no coffees from this country in stock right now - but we will soon! |
