Tasting Notes from The Coffee Guy: In aroma this Sidamo has got it going on. I pull light berries, watermelon rind (that white part with just a bit of juice on it), and hints of sweet hickory. In flavor, the flavors venture toward the brighter end with lemon grass notes and a slight lime edge. Very smooth, soft and delicate. The aftertaste is smooth and round with a very nice finish. Acid is a light+ with a medium- body. Find similar coffees! Design your own blend with this coffee! Recommended Roast Level(s): * Run your mouse over the roast chart for more detail * Roasting Notes: At a Full City, I get chocolate notes, slight nuttiness and hints of lemongrass as it cools. The aftertaste fades to chocolate. At this light roast, the complexity isn't really there as the coffee will be supported much better at a slightly darker roast. Which takes us to the French Roast! At a French Roast, in flavor I get nice blueberries, chocolate and slight nuttiness with a very full body and light sweetness. Light acid makes it just bright enough. As the flavors subside after a sip, you are left with a very pleasant sweetness that just keeps going. Very nice! At a Full City brewed as espresso I first get the lemony acidity that gets magnified in an espresso. Very present and a bit distracting. There is lots of cacao, hints of blueberry in aroma and a bit of lemon seed. Very tart - and in fact is a bit too tart for me. This coffee needs to be a bit darker. At a French Roast brewed as espresso, I get nice hints of blueberries with more nuts. Nice chocolate, great sweetness, hints of lemon peel, with restrained tart crispness and drops off quickly. Medium- acidity and nice body. This is definitely the sweet spot for an espresso. | |||||||||
