Tasting Notes from The Coffee Guy: In aroma I get a nice sweetness with chocolate and smoky notes. Very nice. In flavor you get very balanced nutty notes with chocolate, very nice sweetness and hints of lemon. The brightness is very bright at a medium+ making this a lively cup. The body is super full at a medium+ as well. Find similar coffees! Design your own blend with this coffee! Recommended Roast Level(s): * Run your mouse over the roast chart for more detail * Roasting Notes: At a Full City I get a nice medium brightness with full-on fruit notes and a background of nuttiness. There is a nice citrus/lemon quality to the flavor with a light woodiness in the background; hints of chicory and LOTS of caramel. Very nice and full. At a French Roast, the nutty comes out with the chicory becoming a bit more present - with the fruit becoming more perfumey due to the roast level (the full fruit character takes a back seat to this perfumey character - which is just a product of the roast). The chocolate notes are also emphasized with malty caramel notes becoming more present. Still a nice brightness too; this roast level is very nice too. In espresso this coffee does really well. At Full City, you get the woody and nutty notes in the aroma with hints of herbal character. LOTS of chocolate with a bright, tart nutty acidity. Nice lemon notes too. The acidity lingers on the tongue in the aftertaste with a very pleasant sweetness and the fruit just keeps on going too...this coffee certainly doesn't drop off. Everything just keeps on going. At a French Roast espresso, you lose a bit of the fruit character and complexity, but the roast level really strengthens and reinforces the chocolate and sweetness. In the aftertaste, there is a nice nutty and roasty character that lingers and then finishes cleanly. Ideally I would roast this coffee to a dark Full City for an espresso...going too dark it loses a little bit. At a light Full City, it's maybe a bit too much for some. You need to find that "sweet spot" right in the middle for the perfect shot. | |||||||||
