*Phone Rings*

"Casey - want some awesome Kenyan? Get it fast - the entire shipment will be gone in an hour."

We're glad we got some...meanwhile kicking ourselves that we didn't get more.

This peaberry is one of the best coffees of the season. It comes from the Gethumbwini Estate and is explosive in flavor and aroma.

Tasting Notes from The Coffee Guy:
Full sweet lemon and jasmine in aroma - with an intensity that it fills the room. A smooth and classy med- acid with a full, silky body. In flavor, I get a very perfumey and explosive black currant and lemon, with hints of apple cinnamon and pineapple undertones. These flavors linger on the tongue for 5 minutes after a sip. This could be one of the best coffees of the season!

Roasting Notes:
At a Full City, I get very full flavors with light+ brightness/acid that emphasizes flavors of pineapple-jasmine, grapefruit and lemon. The body is medium and the aroma is awesome (it will fill the room with aroma as it brews).

At a French Roast, the roasty chocolate flavors come in and remove a bit of the complexity of the overall flavor profile, but it's still got a nice sweetness. I would say you'll enjoy this coffee more at a Full City roast though (that's where the complexity is at).

In espresso, this coffee is near magical.

At a Full City espresso, you'll find rich lemon notes in aroma with a sweet, chocolate, vanilla and grapefruit edge in flavor. There is a nice tart (but restrained and not dominating at all) brightness/acidity and the grapefruit characteristic in the aftertaste is excellent. At this lighter roast, you find that the acidity lends a nice bit of sweetness to the coffee. As you take it darker, you lose that and replace it with a bit of bitterness from the roasted flavors.

At French Roast, there are tangerine and grapefruit notes in the aroma with a tart (but very restrained) brightness/acidity that complements the flavors well. The grapefruit characteristic is still there and lingers in the aftertaste and I like the roasty dimension that's there. There's a bit of a lemon edge to the whole profile too. Adding to the complexity of the overall flavor is a bit of grapefruit seed bite that lends a slight dryness to the cup and finishes nicely. All these flavors resonate on the palate after each sip for up to a minute after.
