Sumatra refers to the Indonesian Island, also home of much of the world's better coffee. Toba refers to a large lake on the northern half of the island. Lintong designates a specific region near the lake. And 3x? Basically, it refers to stringent hand sorting, a quality control mechanism. It's not a 100% foolproof method however: Sumatras are known for their funky flavors, including "forest floor" and earthy characteristics. To a point, a certain number of "defective beans" help create the charm of Sumatran coffee. 3x picking can create "too clean" of a flavor at times - but not with this coffee.
