Hawaiian Kona Fancy

Kona coffee's origins date back to the early 1800's when a Guatemalan varietal was first brought to the Kona region of Hawaii. Kona coffee is world renowned for its smoothness and flowery brightness. Although coffee is grown in many parts of Hawaii, only coffee grown in the lower west region of the island can be officially called Kona. The slopes of the Mauna Lao and Hualalai volcanoes (on which Kona coffee is grown) provide rich volcanic soil conditions - perfect for a flavorful and smooth coffee like Kona. Dry winters and wet summers give this coffee a chance to bloom before the sub-tropical rainy season sets in on the island.

Tasting Notes from Casey "The Coffee Guy":
This Kona is awesome! In aroma, I get butter notes, chocolate, walnuts, hazelnut, hints of cherries and other red-fruit. In flavor, I get great nuttiness, hints of vanilla and chocolate, nice tight red raspberry fruit and very full sweetness. The acidity is medium and perfectly tart; very juicy. The body is medium+. There is a slight wine-like character to the whole cup. Very nice!
