African Blend RS, Decaf This "African Blend" is a 50/50 mix of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and Kenyan AA. These two coffees compliment each other really well - the citrus brightness and chocolate of the Kenyan come through very cleanly and the apricot and tea notes of the Yirgacheffe add nice support and depth to the flavor. African coffees are known for their wild fruit notes with Kenyan coffees being robust and powerful - and Ethiopian coffees being packed with wild fruit notes. These coffees make perfect choices for decaf because they can stand up to the (completely organic) processing and still have heaps of flavor. You won't be disappointed with this coffee...it's great! Bright fruit: berry and lemon notes; flowery. The acid is subdued with a light tang. Light+ body gives the coffee nice balance. In flavor I get berries, perfumey tea with light apricot notes - nice complexity and depth. The aftertaste fades into apricot as the flavors subside. Find similar coffees! Recommended Roast Level(s): * Run your mouse over the roast chart for more detail * Roasting Notes: The peak for this bean is at a Full City Roast, and maybe at the outer end a Full City+ (but not too +!). This coffee is as delicate as it is complex and that's what makes it so great. At this roast, I pull fruit, berries, apricot, and sweet pumpkin. The acid is very nice with lemon notes. There is an awesome sweetness to this cup that makes it really stand out. At a Full City espresso, there is a nice bright lemon and citrus character to the aroma. The acid comes across as a lemony sweetness on the back of the tongue. Very nice chocolate and vanilla with a medium body and crisp medium acid. At a French Roast+ espresso (don't take it this dark for a normal coffee), you have a much more mild espresso but with nice lemony sweetness and a smooth roastiness. | |||||||||
