Nicaragua SHG EP Nicraguan coffees have less acidity than their other Central American counterparts, such as Costa Rica. They do have great body and great depth of flavor, which make it perfect for darker, Vienna type, roasts. A perfect cup for coffee drinkers who like great flavor but reduced acidity. Does really well in blends, especially for espresso. Download Nicaragua SHG EP Info PDF for your notes! Click here to compare this coffee with another of our coffees! Tasting Notes from The Coffee Guy: Earth, smoke, cedar notes in aroma. Good body with very little to no acid. Clean/buttery/chocolate flavors that come and go quickly. Clean. Slight earth and smoky notes as it cools. Find similar coffees! Design your own blend with this coffee! Recommended Roast Level(s): * Run your mouse over the roast chart for more detail * Roasting Notes: This coffee roasts beautifully. In my pre-heated roaster the first crack rolled right into an intense second crack and the bean color developed into a bright caramelly brown with a slight sheen of oil (just a hint). Most coffees at this stage are borderline charred and spitting out smoke, but this bean held up like a champ. I could only find one bean where the "fleck" of the outter bean had come off which indicates that this bean was just getting into the second crack even though I held it a bit longer than I normally would. Most beans would have flecks all over the place. The flavor I got was deep and rich - caramelly and full bodied; no acidity but a nice bitter poke on the palate. Complex earthy/cedary notes in the aroma as it brewed which shined through in the flavor as well. Roasted lightly (stopped just after the first crack), however, this bean becomes really mild and clean. No bitterness, smooth, bright flavor notes, with a slightly piney (almost mentholated and sweet) fragrance. A great morning cup. This is a great coffee. | |||||||||
