| Asian coffees are about as exotic as the destination. Spice notes, vibrant acidity, rich earthiness, full body, sweetness, pipe tobacco, bitter chocolate...each coffee is a masterpiece of nature. The fact that the majority of these coffees are produced by small farmers means that they are usually one-off lots, as well. Although some estates and farms offer consistently good coffees, oftentimes a great lot of coffee is like a snowflake - you catch it, savor its uniqueness and beauty, and it melts...that is to say, you run out of the lot. So you go in search of a new one. Fresh crop arrival is an exciting time in the coffee industry. Everyone scrambles around buying up the best stuff and hoarding it away for the year.
